For over 15 years, I’ve led teams that have raised over $250 million for nonprofit organizations focused on education, health & human services, basic needs, and the arts. I’ve served on the Board of Directors for the international Association of Fundraising Professionals Silicon Valley chapter. And I've been honored among Silicon Valley Business Journal's Top 40 Under 40, a selection of "amazing people under the age of 40 who are center stage driving the economy and impacting their industries and their communities." I graduated from Harvard with honors and recently completed Women Unlimited’s 12-month executive leadership program.

A lot of people feel icky about asking for money, and that energy carries over into their fundraising…a sense of shame as if they’ve panhandling.
The truth is, everybody wants meaning in their lives, and one way to make meaning is to be a part of the change you want to see in the world. The outpouring of support you see when a natural disaster strikes is a strong expression of this (think: fires in the Amazon, the latest hurricane to ravage the tropics): people want to help, even when they don’t know anyone who’s been affected personally. We’re all connected. Not everyone can be on the ground, providing disaster relief or medical attention or family services, but a lot of people have the ability to support the work on the ground financially. And if your news feed looks anything like mine, you know that people want to find organizations doing good work to support.
People don’t give to need—they give to vision.
I feel blessed to have a career that’s enabled me to inspire people to be a part of making powerful visions a reality: Feeding hungry families. Educating impoverished children. Helping kids who’ve experienced trauma. I can’t imagine any of the donors I’ve worked with feeling anything other than pride about contributing to these worthy causes. No one ever spent their last breaths regretting that they helped someone suffer less.
That said, fundraising and development work isn’t easy. It lies at the intersection of people and money, and there are lots of ways to screw that up. I want to help you get it right.
