It’s hard to remember a time when I wasn’t making music. Growing up, I played the flute in every youth symphony, theater pit, and all-state honor band I could audition for. In my 20s, I learned how to play the guitar and sing; I recorded an album, started a band, and fell in love with performing.

For me, songwriting has been a way to transform heartbreak into something beautiful. I’m still blown away when a song I write makes someone cry…that something so deeply personal to me can be so relatable to someone else. Catharsis, transformation, connection…music has been the greatest gift of my life.

Plot Twists

This is a song about the sweet joys in life--even (especially) the ones we find after our hearts have been broken...because when our hearts break, they break open. The title comes from one of my favorite quotes: "When something goes wrong in your life, just yell 'Plot twist!' and move on."
